A couple more gold gloves this year?
Doug Mientkiewicz is the last Twin not named Torii Hunter to win a gold glove. That came in 2001. Hunter has taken home 6 straight gold gloves running form 2001 to last season and may very well win the prize again in 2007, if for no other reason than reputation.
Baker takes loss in 3-hitter
Scott Baker has replaced Carlos Silva as the pitcher that gets no run support. Baker pitched a gem his last time out, allowing just 1 run through 7 innings, but won in a close 2-1 game. On Sunday night Baker allowed his first run in the eighth inning on a Marcus Thames solo homer and went onto a 1-0 loss.
Series preview - Detroit Tigers
Most Twins fans can remember the series in Detroit on the last weekend of April last year. The Twins lost 9-0, 18-1 and 6-0. It was, without doubt, the lowest point of last season.
Twins win at Comerica
The Twins finally won a game at Comerica Park after 7 straight losses there this season. Brad Radke held the Tigers to 2 runs through seven innings despite giving up 9 hits while Rincon and Nathan sealed the victory with scoreless 8th and 9th innings. The win put the Twins in a three way tie for the wildcard lead, pending the outcome of the White Sox and Yankees game. If the White Sox lose they'll fall a half game behind the Twins and Red Sox, but a win would put them alone in the lead.
