2008 Projection: Dennys Reyes
Dennys Reyes is next on the list as we continue running through the 2008 projections for the Twins' bullpen. Let's get right into his numbers:
2008 Projection: Pat Neshek
We're getting into the relief pitchers now as we continue the series of 2008 projections. Let's take a look at Pat Neshek, everyone's favorite blogging relief pitcher.
Twins open spring season
The Twins lost their first official game of the preseason, to the Reds by a score of 6 to 1.
More offensive futility
The Twins played their 10th 1-run game since the All-Star break (a remarkable 36% of 28 games played since then) on Saturday night and this time the result was another disappointing loss. They're 5-5 in such games, which isn't so horrible, but you can't help but wonder where that record would be with a league-average offense? 7-3? 8-2?
Voting has ended, Slowey has departed
Voting for the All-Star 32nd man ended just a few minutes ago. Thanks to everyone who downloaded and used the script. It looks like Pat Neshek will fall short in the voting, but it was a fun run.
Santana snaps losing streak
It's been a busy day at Twins Nation. Since releasing my vote Neshek script late last night the traffic has been about 5x what it typically is. The response has been pretty good and I know several people are using it. Although Pat Neshek was still in third place, there still may be hope with almost a full day of voting left.
Neshek voting made easy
Casting endless votes for Pat Neshek can get tiring real fast, so I put together a Greasemonkey script to save a little time and hassle in the process. If you're not familiar with Greasemonkey, here's what you need to do (it's definitely easier than it may seem).
Big Willie and the piranhas
The last two nights have been perfect indications that the playoff race is heating up. Two of the most exciting games of the season came back to back, and best of all, the Twins won both. The Twins jumped out to an early lead against Jose Contreras, scoring five runs in the first three innings and knocking Contreras out of the game after 2 2/3 innings. Santana wasn't as dominate as he usually is, but he managed to get through 7 innings allowing just three runs (two earned) and it looked like everything was going well—the Twins were cruising to victory and the bullpen was going to get some rest. Then things got interesting.
Eighth inning rally wins it
For the second straight night the Twins put together an eighth inning rally to beat the Cleveland Indians. Just as important, the Kansas City Royals were once again able to defeat the White Sox which allowed the Twins to move to within 1 game of the White Sox. Detroit also lost, to Boston, which moved the Twins to within 7.5 games of the AL Central lead. Boston is just 1 game behind the Twins.
Liriano's start short but sweet
Liriano got off to an incredible start on Sunday in Cleveland. Through 4 innings he had struck out 9 batters and had a 3-0 lead. He looked unstoppable. However, he ran into some trouble in the fifth and allowed 1 run to score and threw a lot of pitches while working out of the inning. The Twins went to the bullpen in the sixth.
