You have to wonder if Wayne Krivsky, GM of the Reds is still secretly working for the Twins. I'm not sure what big moves he was involved in when he was with the Twins, but he's definitely done some good work for the Twins since leaving this past offseason.

Double Plays Hurt Twins

The eleven game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night in Kansas City. Boof Bonser struggled with his command and gave up 4 runs in the third inning before being replaced in the fourth by Kyle Lohse. Lew Ford's 2-run homer provided the only runs for the Twins as just about every rally the Twins got started was killed by a double play. The Twins hit into three double plays in the loss.

Win Streak Halted in Houston

The Twins 8-game win streak came to an end with a 5-3 loss on Wednesday night in Houston. Carlos Silva put together another quality start, but the lack of run support and a shaky outing from Kyle Lohse combined for the loss. Silva gave up a solo homerun in the 1st inning but then put together 4 scoreless innings before allowing 1 run in the 6th and walking the only batter he faced in the 7th. Juan Rincon came in and threw a wild pitch and gave up a double which tied the game.

Comeback not Enough

The Twins found themselves down 8-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning. Carlos Silva struggled in the first inning by giving up 3 runs, including a 2-run homer to Miguel Tejada. Silva then pitched 3 scoreless innings before allowing Baltimore to extend the lead by a run in each of the fifth and 6th innings. The recently recalled Kyle Lohse came on for the 7th and looked terrible.

Update (5/17/06 4:05 PM): It's just been reported that the Twins have sent Lohse to AAA Rochester and called up Boof Bonser who will start on Sunday. I'll be curious to see what the future holds for Kyle Lohse. Full AP Story

Tigers 7, Twins 4

Another game, another terrible outing by a Twins starter. This is getting old and it's giving me a helpless feeling. The Twins have 4 starters that are struggling mightily, one of which has been replaced with Francisco Liriano. What do you do about the other 3 (Radke, Lohse, Baker)? Radke will stay and he'll be unspectacular but not terrible. Lohse and Baker are more of a concern. I'm glad I'm not Gardy.

Twins 4, Rangers 3

The Twins won their second straight series and 2nd game in a row with a Wednesday afternoon victory in Texas. Kyle Lohse, at risk of losing his spot in the rotation, desperately needed a good start today. He wasn't spectacular, but was able to avoid damage. He gave up 1 run in 6 innings and picked up his second win of the season. He gave up 6 hits and walked 4 batters in the game.

Tigers 9, Twins 6

The Twins lost their 4th straight game against Detroit Friday night at the dome. The Twins offense was surprisingly affective against Kenny Rogers. Rogers has built a reputation of being a Twins killer, so it was great to see not one but several innings in which the Twins managed to score against him. Unfortunately, Kyle Lohse struggled again, banishing any chance the Twins might of had at winning the game.

Athletics 2, Twins 8

The Twins are riding high after completing the sweep against Oakland today at the Metrodome. Similar to their other 3 victories this season, the Twins fell behind early as Kyle Lohse struggled in the 1st inning. Lohse gave up 2 runs and threw 30 pitches before getting out of the inning, but he was solid after that.
