Believe it: Livan is 3-0

First, Francisco Liriano has been recalled to pitch on Sunday against the Royals. Slowey has been placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 4th. After Thursday's rainout, that comes as a surpise to me, but I suppose they would've had to make a move at some point by early next week.

A Sad Evening in the Twin Cities

35W Bridge Collapse The Twins' extra innings loss to the Royals is hardly relevant considering what was happening just a mile away after the 35W bridge collapse. I was in attendance at the game, and I must say it didn't feel right trying to enjoy a baseball game on such a somber evening.

Struggles continue in victory

The fact that the Twins won Thursday afternoon's game against the Kansas City Royals doesn't make me feel much better about the way the Twins' played. All-around, they were terrible, and against any other team they should have been crushed. However after 11 innings one team was finally able to put a single run on the board and that just so happened to be the Twins.

Didn't they just play these guys? They sure did, but it didn't go so well, so they'll give it another go.

Unbelievable finale

A dramatic Twins season ended in dramatic fashion. The final day of the regular season couldn't have been scripted much better than it played out on Sunday. The Twins headed into Sunday's game needing to win and needing the Royals to complete the sweep of the Tigers. How it all played out was truly unbelievable. On top of all that Mauer headed into the final game with just a slight lead over Derek Jeter for the AL batting title.

It's sad, really

It's really pretty sad to watch the Kansas City Royals play. Their pitching has walked 34 batters in three games so far which has allowed the Twins to come within a game of sweeping the 4 game series, despite the Twins not playing so well upon coming to Kansas City. The Royals also don't seem to have a bright future. They don't have a good core of young players that they're looking to to bring them out of the cellar in the next couple years. Of course, playing the Royals couldn't have come at a better time for the Twins.

Royals 1, Twins 6

After losing 4 straight the Twins now have a winning streak started after beating Seattle on Tuesday night and Kansas City on Wednesday night. The Twins have also finally found a cure for Brad Radke's early inning struggles -- the Kansas City Royals. Radke gave up just 3 hits, no walks and no runs through the first 6 innings of the game. He did finally surrender a solo homerun to Matt Stairs in the 7th (it's not a true Radke start without a homerun allowed). By that time the Twins already had a comfortable 6 run lead. Fransisco Liriano came in to finish the came and after being a little roughed up in his last outing, he was back to his old ways Wednesday night, striking out 3 and allowing just 1 hit in 2 innings.

Player of the Week: Week 4

Published: May 01, 2006 8:17 PM

In the fourth week of the season the Twins had a record of 2-4, winning both games against the struggling Kansas City Royals. The Detroit Series over the weekend can only be described as embarrassing. We didn't have any great performances to speak of from the Detroit series, but we do have a couple worth mentioning from Kansas City.

Twins 1, White Sox 7

This game was a lot closer than the final score indicated. As predicted, the Mark Buehrle and Johan Santana matchup turned out to be a pitchers duel--until the 8th inning.
