Yankees 1, Twins 5 Yankees 1 at Twins 5 April 14th, 2006 at 11:30 pm

Scott Baker, the Twins fifth starter, gave the Twins their best start of the season, against arguably their best opponent. Baker went 7 innings giving up only 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 run to a potent Yankee lineup.

As has been common this season, the Twins gave up an early lead to the Yankees when Derek Jeter drove in the only Yankee run of the night in the 3rd inning. The Twins, however, took the lead in the bottom of that inning and never gave it up.

The game remained close until the bottom of the 7th when Juan Castro singled to drive in Lew Ford. The Twins added 3 runs in the 8th to seal the victory and prevent Joe Nathan from being used. With Johan Santana and Brad Radke taking the mound for the Twins the next two nights, the chance of a series victory looks pretty good.

Game Notes

  • Tonight was the Twins’ fifth come-from-behind victory of the season
