Twins win another against KC Royals 4 at Twins 6 April 5th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Justin Morneau’s slump has possibly come to end. He hit his first home run of the season, a 3-run blast in the 4th inning, and later provided an RBI double. That gives him 3 hits and 5 RBI in the past two games.
Livan Hernandez provided another good start, going 7 innings for the second time in as many starts. He needed just 74 pitches to get through those 7 innings and would have surely stayed in the game had he not had a rough seventh inning. If Livan can keep this up throughout the season, I’ll look like a fool for suggesting he’d be a flop. I’m sure I’ll look like a fool for several reasons this season, but I’m still not convinced it will be because of Livan.
Matt Tolbert got his second straight start at second base as Brendan Harris is still sidelined with the flu. He’s making the most of it. He was 1 for 2 on Friday night and then 2-4 on Saturday.
Game Notes
- Carlos Gomez was 0-4 with 3 strikeouts.
- Joe Nathan picked up his 3rd save of the season.
- The Twins are at .500 (3-3) on the season.
- With Michael Cuddyer on the 15-day DL, Jason Kubel got the start in RF with Craig Monroe DHing. Denard Span joined the team just in time for the start of the game, but was obviously not in the lineup. I’d expect him to play in RF on Sunday.
Looking Ahead
Boof Bonser will try to wrap up the sweep for the Twins on Sunday against Brett Tomko. The game time is 1:10pm.
