Spring training update Twins 8 at Pirates 4 March 8th, 2008 at 11:01 pm

First, my apologies for falling off track the last couple days with the player projections. Thursday’s announcement of the iPhone SDK completely hijacked my attention. Anyway, I’ve managed to redirect myself back to baseball and the goal is to get several projections done this weekend, so I can keep them going throughout the week.

Brandon Rosage of The Pitch on MVN Radio was kind enough to have me join him for their Minnesota Twins 2008 preview. My lack of experience with radio/podcast interviews certainly shows (writing is so much easier), but please head over and have a listen.

Francisco Liriano had his first start of the spring on Friday against Boston. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing 2 hits and a walk. He struck out 1. Nick Blackburn followed him and pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Scott Baker started Saturday, but had to leave before completing the planned 3 innings due to a tweaked lat muscle that he said he sustained in his previous outing. Hopefully this won’t be something that nags him into the season.

The starting CF position is still as clear as mud. All three (Carlos Gomez, Denard Span, Jason Pridie) are still more or less splitting the time in CF evenly. Craig Monroe has also said he’s available to play there, but has yet to see any time in CF this spring.
