Kenny Rogers to miss 3 months Twins 3 at Pirates 5 March 30th, 2007 at 6:20 pm

The Twins’ AL Central rival Detroit Tigers got a bit of bad news today. Kenny Rogers, who at first was expected to only miss a start with a tired arm actually underwent surgery for a blood clot.

Rogers won 17 games for the Tigers last year and has been somewhat of a Twin killer since his stint with the Twins in 2003. I hope Kenny has a speedy, but not too speedy, recovery.

In spring training news, Ramon Ortiz capped off a pretty good spring 4 innings of one hit ball against the Pirates. Spring box scores don’t show pitch counts, so I’m left wondering why he only went 4 innings in his final start before the season begins. Maybe Gardy just wants him to be fresh.

:(

When I heard this on the radio today, it absolutely broke my heart.

However, if it means Andrew Miller getting an extra year in the Bigs, then maybe it's a blessing in disguise, right?
