Twins pitching was hit hard on Wednesday afternoon while their bats were completely shut down. Brad Radke had a typical start (not so good) and the bullpen didn’t fair much better. The Twins defense wasn’t exactly there to backup their pitchers, with 3 errors in the game, but regardless of that Cleveland still had 15 hits, 4 walks, and 10 earned runs.

Sabathia is good and he’s a lefty, and that’s almost always a bad combination for the Twins. This game was no exception. The Twins managed just 6 hits and not a single walk. Sabathia pitched the complete game to pick up the shutout.

Game Notes

  • Lew Ford batted leadoff again.
  • Castillo had the day off after two straight 0-for-5 days. Punto was 1-for-4 in his place.
  • Mike Redmond continued to hit the ball in his backup role. He had 2 singles in the game and his season average remains above .400.
