Destruction in New York Twins 0 at Yankees 8 July 3rd, 2007 at 11:30 pm

This is a short one mostly because I spent my time working on the Neshek voting script and partially because it’s just depressing to talk about the Twins right now.

The Twins were shut out by the Yankees on Tuesday night for their 3rd straight loss. They’ve managed to score just 1 run in the past 3 games.

Things can pretty easily be summed up by the Torii Hunter meltdown in the eighth inning. He had disagreed with the umpire on his strikeout in the sixth and had a few words, but in the eighth after Nick Punto struck out Hunter came out of the dugout and began yelling at home plate umpire Ron Kulpa.

There’s really no excuse for what he did. He lost his temper and came out onto the field when he had no business doing so. It only added to the embarrassment that already existed with the 8-0 deficit. Hunter will be fined and he should be suspended too.

Game Notes

  • Carlos Silva allowed 6 runs in 5 1/3 innings.
  • The collapse of Juan Rincon continued as he allowed an additional 2 runs while relieving Silva in the sixth.
  • Justin Morneau had 2 hits including a double.
