Another bad loss Yankees 10 at Twins 1 April 10th, 2007 at 11:48 pm
It was another ugly night of Twins baseball at the dome. Once again the Twins bats made a struggling pitcher look brilliant. Andy Pettitte pitched six shutout innings before the Twins finally scored their only run of the game off Scott Proctor in the seventh. Boof Bonser got hit hard. He allowed 2 homers and a double and couldn’t make it out of the fifth inning.
The Twins had no pitching, not defense and no hitting on Tuesday night. It was hard to watch and it’s hard to talk about.
Game Notes
- Newly recalled Josh Rabe got the start in left over Jason Kubel. I understand that the Yankees had a lefty pitching, but Josh Rabe? I’d rather see Kubel get the start against a lefty than see him lose playing time to Rabe. Kubel got a single and the only RBI in his pinch-hit appearance in the seventh inning.
- Jason Bartlett’s struggles continued. He made his fourth error (throw) of the season and went 0-2 before being replaced by Alexi Casilla late in the game.
- Mike Redmond was again the DH. He got his first hit of the season. The lack of depth on this team is showing already in just the second week of games.
The Twins will rely on Ramon Ortiz to salvage a game in this series on Wednesday night. Based on how things have gone, I don’t like our chances. Mike Mussina will probably look like he did in his Baltimore days against this Twins lineup.
In case you still had any regret that the Twins had to release J.D. Durbin this spring, then this should make you feel better about it.
I don’t follow the stadium progress as closely as I probably should; frankly I’ve grown tired of it after all these years. However, it looks like the project will finally begin moving forward this summer. The Twins have agreed to cover the additional land costs for the project.
