Angels 6, Twins 4 Angels 6 at Twins 4 April 20th, 2006 at 3:47 pm

The Twins dropped the final game of the 3 game set with the Angles and also last the series 2 game to 1. Jesse Crain took the loss for the Twins giving up 2 runs in the 8th inning. Crain pitched scoreless 6th and 7th innings, and then retired the first 2 batters in the 8th. He gave up 3 straight hits after that including a double to Jose Molina. Crain shouldn’t have gone 3 innings today, but Lohse’s poor outing yesterday caused the bullpen to get used up.

The Twins finished the homestand with a record of 6-3, so they’re definitely feeling much better leaving the dome than they did when they came in with a 1-5 record. They’ll have a big series this weekend at Chicago, before their schedule difficulty cools off a bit next week.

Game Notes

  • Luis Castillo batted 3-for-4 and scored 2 runs. He had a great homestand and his batting average currently sits at .404. He did have to leave late in the game after hurting his ankle running down to first. It appears not to be too serious and hopefully he’ll be able to play tomorrow.
  • Rondell White was back in the lineup at DH. He was 7th in the order today, and he went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. It’s definitely good to see him possibly starting to come out of that slump.
  • Tony Batista was also 3-for-4 today with 2 RBIs.
  • Ruben Sierra was brought on to pinch-hit for Nick Punto in the 8th inning with 2 outs. He walked against K-Rod.
  • Scott Baker allowed 4 runs (2 earned) in 5 innings of work.
  • Luis Castillo and Nick Punto each had costly errors in the game, something that has bee rare for the Twins so far.
