Angels 6, Twins 3 Twins 3 at Angels 6 May 30th, 2006 at 11:30 pm

Scott Baker struggled again on Tuesday night and now stands to possibly become the third pitcher exiled from the Twins rotation this season. The most likely replacement would be Carlos Silva, who was moved out of the rotation a couple weeks ago to work on his stuff. That doesn’t exactly give me a lot of confidence, but what other options would we have?

The Twins jumped out to an early lead with 2 runs in the first inning. Scott Baker gave back those 2 runs in the bottom of the first and also got roughed up for 4 runs in the 5th inning.

Game Notes

  • Jason Kubel not only got his first hit since being recalled from AAA, but it was also his first homerun of the season. The homer was a solo shot in the 6th which reduced the Angels lead to 6-3.
  • The Twins offense was pretty pathetic last night. Their lack of patience at the plate turned Jeff Weaver, who has been pretty bad, into a pretty good pitcher.
  • Joe Mauer was 2-for-4 in the game, raising his average to a league leading .352 (tied with Alex Rios).
  • Rondell White was 0-for-4 last night. His number have been better in the month of May (.263 / .288 / .329), but those are still pretty bad. If he’s not going to walk more then he needs more power. Neither isn’t going to cut it, so as we enter the last day of May I’m officially calling for White to be benched/demoted/traded/waived. I don’t care which it is; I just don’t want him in the lineup anymore.
