WBC Could Hurt Liriano's Value March 20th, 2006 at 2:40 pm
The battle for the fifth starter spot between Liriano and Scott Baker was going to be interesting to watch this spring, but with Liriano being selected to the Dominican WBC team, does it hurt his chances of getting the job?

I think there are other factors that hurt his chances of getting the job.
1.)Gardenhire seems to prefer the guy with the most experience. Although Baker is young, he still has more experience than Liriano.
2.)The Twins need a strong lefty out of the bullpen and for that reason Gardy may prefer to give the starting job to Baker so Liriano can fill that lefty reliever void.
