Twins lose series to Angels
The Twins' first series of the season ended up in a 1 game to 3 loss to the Angels. The series involved 3 low-scoring 1-run games and the 9-1 blowout win by the Angels on Tuesday night.
The worst news was the early departure of Kevin Slowey with a right biceps strain. I'm guessing he'll miss one start at the very least. In the next day or too we'll learn whether or not it's a longer-term injury. Francisco Liriano would seem to be the likely replacement if Slowey goes to the DL.
The Twins' scoreless innings streak extended to 18 before they finally put a run on the board in the sixth inning of Thursday's game. Carlos Gomez reached on a bunt single and advanced to second on a bad throw from Chone Figgins. Joe Mauer drove him in with a double. If Go-Go and Mauer want to keep doing that, I could definitely get used to it.
The Twins finally got their first home run of the season when Jason Kubel brought the Twins within 1 run of the Angels in the eighth inning.
Series Summary

After a pretty successful opening night, we eventually came to realize that this offense may be as frustrating to watch as last year's.
Looking ahead
The Kansas City Royals are riding high coming off a sweep of the Detroit Tigers in Detroit. Scott Baker will get his first start of the year Friday night against some 33 year old guy named John Bale. Bale throws with his left arm, which wouldn't seem like such a big deal with a mostly right-handed Twins lineup. However, if the results against Joe Saunders on Wednesday night are any indication of the Twins' ability to hit southpaws, then they're in trouble.
Saturday night is expected to be Livan Hernandez vs. Brett Tomko and for Sunday we should see Boof Bonser square off against Gil Meche.
