The Twins jumped out to an early 6-0 lead off Milwaukee starter Ben Hendrickson. Hendrickson gave up 6 runs in the first before he was pulled without retiring one Twins batter. The Twins also put together a 5 run fourth inning which included triples by Michael Cuddyer and Juan Castro. The Twins also added runs in the 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th. The Twins have had a handful of high-scoring games this year, so clearly this offense is capable of scoring more runs than it could last year.

The Twins also gave up a lot of runs. Scott Baker gave up 2 runs in the 1st and 2 in the 4th, but did pitch fairly well. He gave up 6 hits and 1 walk in five innings and struck out 8. It was two 2-run homers that got to Baker. Guerrier pitched another scoreless inning in relief but Willie Eyre and Dennys Reyes didn't fair so well. Each of them allowed 3 run innings in the 8th and 9th, but fortunately the lead was padded enough to withstand the runs. A Castro error in the 9th resulted in only 1 of the 3 Reyes runs being earned.

Game Notes

• Joe Mauer picked up where he left off yesterday by picking up 4 hits and a walk in 6 plate appearances. He had 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs, including a fifth inning solo homer.
• Justin Morneau picked up 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBIs in the game with the help of two doubles.
• Lew Ford started in LF as Stewart rests for a couple days with his recurring foot problems. Lew ws hit by another pitch tonight after being hit twice last night.
• The Brewers made 3 errors in the game and walked 11 Twins batters. It's tough to win games when you give up so much.

Looking Ahead

The Twins are at a point where they need to pick up all the wins they can, so they'll hope for a decent major league debut from Boof Bonser on Sunday. Even if they can't win it's always fun to see a young pitcher start.

The White Sox have dominated the Cubs so far over the weekend, so there's been no chance to gain any ground on them.
