Taming the Tigers

The Twins will open a home series against the Detroit Tigers tonight. The Tigers are riding a 3-game win-streak, which has propelled them to the top of the AL Central. The run of wins can be almost entirely attributed to stellar pitching--they shut out Cleveland on Friday and Saturday before allowing just 3 runs to them on Sunday.

The Twins will have to face Justin Verlander, who pitched a Complete Game shutout on Friday, for the last game of the series on Thursday. First, however, they get to face a couple guys who haven't faired as well lately.

Armando Galarraga has given up 6 and 5 runs in his previous two starts, after starting off the season with a 1.85 ERA through 4 starts. He's 3-2 with a 4.08 ERA on the year. His opponent, Kevin Slowey, is trying to look past a couple of rough outings himself. Slowey has allowed 8 runs in his last 8 IP (2 starts).

Dontrelle Willis will make his first start of the season on Wednesday against Glen Perkins, who has fallen back to earth since a great start to the season. Willis will be making his season debut, and thus will try to recover from his disastrous, injury filled, inaugural year in Detroit.

On Thursday Scott Baker will try to build off his good start on Friday, in which he shut down Seattle for 7 innings.

The Twins are in a good position to win a couple games and begin to take command of a pretty weak division.

Yes the post season is around the corner! But im not happy with M.Cabrera, or Polanco. the 2 of them are a combined 0-19 with 2 walks the last 21 at bats! thats rediculous. And did anyone happened to see those marks on Cabreras face. WHATS THAT ABOUT!!! Wow Now we haft to play in the only place in the world whair baseball should be banned. A place that is famous for the FAN. Yeah You know the one. And the white roof, with the white lights. and the white ball....Anyways you get the drift here. OOh by the way, Turf Wow. Next year you will see a diferent much slower, less clutch team in the twins. They will haft too play on grass, like the rest of us . And no canada dont count, unless ur name is Halladay.
