Still no deal December 5th, 2007 at 8:19 am
The Twins spoke with the Red Sox late into Tuesday night, but there’s still no deal.
The Red Sox appear to be the only team expressing serious interest at this point, although no one believes that the Yankees are actually out of it as they say.
Perhaps the Miguel Cabrera trade gave the Twins reason to hold out a little longer. The handful of teams who had been pursuing Cabrera may be willing to turn their full attention to Santana.

12:15 p.m., from Peter Gammons • Don't expect to see a Twins-Red Sox or Twins-Yankees whopper. The sense is now that Minnesota will hold onto Johan Santana.
Get ready for a subpar year from Santana, followed by him leaving to free agency with the Twins getting nothing in return!

OK I heard from a reliable source that it's going down today. Here is the deal… the Sox get Santana, the Twins get Jacoby Ellsbury's jock strap from the World Series, a full case of baseballs, Eric Gagne's glasses, and half price tickets to Red Sox games next year (regular season only)
