Shut out...again

Paul Byrd handed the Twins their 10th shutout of the season and 5th since July 1st. The offense scattered 4 hits with the low point coming in the third when Jason Kubel led off with a double and Brian Buscher, Nick Punto and Jason Tyner all failed to bring him in.

Carlos Silva put together a pretty nice start against the Indians, allowing just 2 runs through 7 innings, but there's nothing a pitcher can do to overcome this craptastic offense. Terry Ryan should be ashamed of the team he put together this year.

When your manager is sending Jason Tyner out to lead off followed by the rookie Casilla and then rounding out the lineup with guys like Buscher and Punto, you haven't done your job. It's hard to imagine where this team would be without the pleasant surprises from pitchers like Scott Baker, Matt Garza and to some extent Silva.

Alexi Casilla had a mishap in the eighth inning when he failed to be ready for Brian Buscher's throw on a Kenny Lofton bunt. The Indians ultimately loaded the bases and scored 2 runs in the inning. A couple batters later, however, Casilla made a nice play diving to his left on an infield grounder and then throwing home for the force out.

Kelly Thesier asks "Will Santana win 300 games?". My answer to that is, "it depends on how soon he gets out of Minnesota."

My frustration isn't too subtle, is it?
