Series preview - Detroit Tigers, take 2 May 11th, 2007 at 6:30 am
The Twins and Tigers will be shown on National TV for two of the three games. They’ll be on FOX Saturday baseball and then will be the Sunday night game on ESPN. The Tigers will come into the Dome just as hot as the Twins are cold. The Tigers have won 9 of 10 and have amounted a healthy 4.5 game lead since the Twins took their first series of the season by 2 games to 1.
Friday night will feature a face off of two lefties and right-handed starters will round out the rest of the series. The full match ups:
- Friday: Mike Maroth (2-0, 5.35) vs. Johan Santana (4-2, 3.40)
- Saturday: Chad Durbin (2-1, 5.45) vs. Sidney Ponson (2-4, 6.42)
- Sunday: Jeremy Bonderman (2-0, 4.20) vs. Boof Bonser (0-1, 3.96)
Some things to watch for:
- Sidney Ponson could be pitching for his job on Saturday (for about the 3rd or 4th time this year)
- Ron Gardenhire is getting frustrated with Jason Kubel’s lack of production in left. At least one person thinks it’s time for Kubel to visit AAA.
