Series preview - Chicago White Sox April 7th, 2007 at 8:38 am
The series has been cut short due to cold weather and wind on Friday, but it appears that the next two games will go on as scheduled. Sidney Ponson will be shuffled to Monday leaving Carlos Silva to get the start on Saturday afternoon and Johan Santana to pitch on Sunday. The White Sox will stick with their original rotation plan by having Javier Vasquez pushed back to Saturday and left handed rookie John Danks face off against Santana on Sunday.
The extra off day likely benefits the White Sox more than the Twins. The Twins already had 1 day off before the series anyway and the White Sox’ battered bullpen really needed a day off. The bullpen had pitched nearly 20 innings in the opening series against Cleveland.
The White Sox lineup is pretty similar to past years:
- Scott Podsednik, LF
- Darin Erstad, CF
- Paul Konerko, 1B
- Jim Thome, DH
- Jermaine Dye, RF
- Joe Crede, 3B
- Tadahito Iguchi, 2B
- A.J. Pierzynski, C
- Juan Uribe, SS
It’s a formidable lineup, the biggest concern for the White Sox right now is the health and effectiveness of its starting rotation. Mark Beurhle left Thursday’s game in the second inning after being hit by a batted ball.

I see your point, and it's looks especially strong considering that Hunter did actually hit into a double play. But looking at the final score, would the 1 run have mattered. What if Hunter had singled to help create a bigger inning?
I'm typically an anti-bunt guy, so I'm not gonna harp on Gardy over this one.
Hunter led the team in at-bats with runners on in 2006, so it's only natural that he'll have a high number of GIDPs. Hunter had 19 last season. Mauer led the team with 24 in 50 fewer at bats.

Why doesn't Tori Hunter ever bunt with 2 on and no outs. Again today (4/7 playing the sox) in a game behind by one run where the Twins have but one hit at the end of the seventh. Hunter hits into a double play. I don't know the stats but this has happened to often (last season i'm refering to). We needed that run. Anyone ever see hunter bunt. I've watched 250 plus games in the last three seasons. If he bunted once I'd be surprised. Hunter is batting sixth. I know he had 31 homers last year. But moving those guys over with a bunt is the call Gardy has to make. I'm I alone on this?
