Kyle Lohse traded July 31st, 2006 at 6:59 pm
You have to wonder if Wayne Krivsky, GM of the Reds is still secretly working for the Twins. I’m not sure what big moves he was involved in when he was with the Twins, but he’s definitely done some good work for the Twins since leaving this past offseason.
In June he took Juan Castro off our hands and today he traded us a decent single-A pitching prospect for Kyle Lohse and the problems and salary that come with him. Krivsky also recently picked up former Twin Eddie Guardado who was having a miserable season with Seattle.
The Lohse trade was the only move the Twins made before today’s deadline, which is a bit discouraging but certainly not unexpected. The Twins still have holes. The offense could use some jolt and the rotation is getting thinner by the day. Everyone knows Radke’s shoulder has been bothering him all season and after his last start you have to wonder if he’ll even be able to finish out the season. Without him we have nothing after Santana and Liriano.
Of course, they could still make a waiver trade over the next month. There’s also a good chance Matt Garza could be called up, but what if he isn’t ready?
Maybe Terry Ryan is thinking more about next year?
