The Twins will kick off their spring training schedule on Wednesday with a game, as always, against the crosstown Boston Red Sox. Matt Garza, who is competing for a spot at the end of the rotation, is slated to get the start. In other news:

Crain Extended

Jesse Crain was given a 3-year contract extension worth $3.25 million. Crain got off to a shaky start last season, but from June to the end of the season he was about as good as you can hope for. He finished out the season by allowing just 1 run in 12 innings in September.

Ponson can't pitch?

LEN III reports that Sidney Ponson obtained the wrong type of Visa and will not get the issue resolved until March 9th. For a guy that's been in the league for several years, you'd think he'd be able to get these issues sorted out, but considering his reputation of irresponsibility it doesn't come as much of surprise.
