Game time February 27th, 2007 at 10:30 pm

The Twins will kick off their spring training schedule on Wednesday with a game, as always, against the crosstown Boston Red Sox. Matt Garza, who is competing for a spot at the end of the rotation, is slated to get the start. In other news:

Crain Extended

Jesse Crain was given a 3-year contract extension worth $3.25 million. Crain got off to a shaky start last season, but from June to the end of the season he was about as good as you can hope for. He finished out the season by allowing just 1 run in 12 innings in September.

Ponson can’t pitch?

LEN III reports that Sidney Ponson obtained the wrong type of Visa and will not get the issue resolved until March 9th. For a guy that’s been in the league for several years, you’d think he’d be able to get these issues sorted out, but considering his reputation of irresponsibility it doesn’t come as much of surprise.

Ballhype

Ballhype is a new sports community site that is currently in closed beta. The beta is intended for sportaholics, so I figured the best place to give it out would be right here. The first person to leave a comment expressing interest will get it.

Alex, I was quite a bit vague about what ballhype is. Ballhype pulls in content from thousands of sports related blogs and analyzes them (based on a number of factors) to bring the best to the surface. It's sort of the Digg.com of sports.

There's obviously much more to it than I can say here, so I'll send you the invite and let you check it out yourself.
