2008 Projection: Dennys Reyes
Dennys Reyes is next on the list as we continue running through the 2008 projections for the Twins' bullpen. Let's get right into his numbers:
| Year | Age | ERA | W | L | INN | HR | BB | K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2008 ZiPS | 31 | 3.45 | 3 | 2 | 47.0 | 2 | 21 | 37 |
| 2007 | 30 | 3.99 | 2 | 1 | 29.3 | 1 | 21 | 21 |
| 2006 | 29 | 0.89 | 5 | 0 | 50.7 | 3 | 15 | 49 |
Reyes is officially my least favorite Twin. He's a Loogy that often fails at getting that one out. He convinced the Twins to sign him to a 2 year $2 million contract in 2006 after posting a miniscule 0.89 ERA. In 2007 when he wasn't on the DL he failed to record an out in 8 of his 50 appearances.
He walked as many as he struck out in 07 and allowed nearly 2 base runners per inning pitched. In other words, he was pretty ineffective and had it not been for the guys who followed him (mainly Pat Neshek) his stats could've been even uglier.
Nevertheless, the Twins don't have many lefty options in the bullpen, so Reyes will hold the same role he did in '06 and '07.
