Does anyone else find the John Deere advertisement in the background of this screen cap ironic?- Punto plays in 1 game after coming off the DL with a strained left hamstring and now he's right back on the DL with the same injury. It sucks but what can you do? - What also sucks is getting shut out 11-0 in the series finale against the White Sox but they left town another game down so it's tough to
- Thome has the first walk off homer at Target Field

In between innings of tonight's game I'm re-watching last night's walk off win but with Hawk Harrelson & his cohort calling the game instead of watching the replay with Dick & Bert calling it for the 20th time. As I was watching the replay I noticed how quickly Matt Thornton's neck snapped and all in one motion he turned around and walked of the mound because he knew before the ball left t

With the Twins playing some great baseball even without their arguably 1st half MVP I thought we could go over a few fun things in the world of the information superhighway (in a baseball related way). - A friend at work recommended I start reading Joe Posnanski's blog. All I can say is it was a great recommendation! Posnanski has an opinion and he's not afraid to back it up with some numbers to

I got tired of reading all of the moronic conjecture and uninformed opinions of other baseball blogs and figured maybe I'd stop contributing to all that mess for awhile. Since I've been gone the Twins have gotten themselves right back into the mix of things with the White Sox holding steady and the Tigers playoff hopes are now barely alive after taking over 1st place from the Twins right before th

The Twins had an interleague road trip to forget except for Carl Pavano. Between being shut out twice and the starting staff not holding their weight I am betting the Twins are excited to get back home and start fresh. He's in rare company according to an article published on twinsbaseball.com.Twins vs Brewers & Twins vs MetsGold Stars:Carl Pavano - After a complete game against Roy Halladay a
- Cliff Lee as a Minnesota Twin?
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel June 21, 2010 at 08:23 PM
Come end of July, could Cliff Lee be in a Twins uniform?Over the weekend I read a couple rumors and even today a friend of mine who works at Target Field sent me a text message about rumblings of a trade for Cliff Lee. The two very similar scenarios I've heard are Scott Baker & Wilson Ramos for Cliff Lee or Kevin Slowey & Wilson Ramos for Cliff Lee. Why it doesn't make sense:- The Twins ar
- Series Recap: Twins vs Phillies

I mentioned in my last post about how the Twins can't sleep on the Phillies and the Phillies showed why Friday & Saturday night. Good thing the Twins showed a lot of fight and resiliency. Being down 5 runs in the 9th inning on Saturday I'm sure no one expected the Twins to make a comeback but that's the wonderful thing about the game of baseball, anything can happen. Even Friday night they sh

Overall it was a fun series to watch. The Twins won the series, we got to see Danny Valencia (or Valenchia as Dick & Bert pronounce it) get his first RBI, Butera came up with a big RBI base hit filling in for Mauer yesterday and our starting pitching looked pretty dang good. What was not fun was watching the Twins hit in to 9 double plays (mostly because of bad luck and not bad at-bats) and be
- The replay debate
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel June 15, 2010 at 12:23 PM
Since the MLB introduced replay for homeruns there's been a lot more talk about extending it's use in other areas of the game. Of course this came to a fever pitch with the blown call that kept Armando Gallarago out of the record books for a perfect game. A lot of people had the knee jerk reaction that there needs to be more opportunity for replay in the game and every point of view has been argue
- Series Recap: Twins vs Braves
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel June 13, 2010 at 10:41 PM
The Twins lost the series 1 game to 2. The first two games were absolutely great baseball, the third game not so much. From calling the hit and run to the suicide squeeze you have to hand it to Bobby Cox & The Braves, they won that game by playing smart and executing. Although you can't expect to get a big hit every time you have the bases loaded the fact is Kubel struck out and then the Brave
- Series Recap: Twins vs Royals

The Twins had a tough series in Seattle but recovered well in Oakland and it was great to see them get off to a good start on their home stand. They even made a great attempt at a comeback tonight. Delmon Young had another solid series and another guy I've been impressed with, Alex Burnett, continues to contribute which is why the Twins find themselves 3rd in major league baseball's power rankings
- Series Recap: Twins vs A's
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel June 07, 2010 at 08:47 PM
It's great the Twins could take that series after a terrible finish in Seattle. It was frustrating to see their lead's dwindle away Friday & Saturday night but at least they had comebacks in them.Twins vs A's (won 2-1)Record: 33-24Gold Stars:Delmon Young - He went 5-12 with 7 RBI this weekend which is over half the runs scored for the Twins this weekend. Justin Morneau - He crushed his 13th Ho
- Series Recap: Twins vs Mariners
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel June 03, 2010 at 11:37 PM
While you'd hope the Twins could get at least a split against a team like the Mariners who year after year spend millions on free agency only to not be a competitive team they're walking away have lost 3 straight to lose the series. Hopefully the they can put the A's away and still make it a winning road trip. Also, it's never fun when you lose a game on a bad call but the Twins had their chances
- Series Recap: Twins vs Rangers
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel May 31, 2010 at 05:23 PM
The Twins convincingly swept the Rangers and widened their division lead to 3.5 games over the Tigers. All of the Twins contributed over the weekend and this is the way you like to see the team play.Twins vs Rangers (won 3-0)Record: (30-20)Gold Stars:The Starting Pitching - These guys continue to be the foundation to the Twins winning season. - A day of what baseball is all about.
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel May 29, 2010 at 09:05 PM
Today, 3 things happened that can be used as arguments to why you should be a fan of baseball.- 1st. The Twins, after a couple weeks of not getting many big hits when they've needed them exploded for a 6 run 7th inning to give them the easy win. With nobody out and the bases loaded all you could ask Delmon Young for was to not hit into a double play. Instead he turns on the first pitch and hits a
- Series Recap: Twins vs Yankees

After a great pitching matchup that got rained out Tuesday night the Twins lost 2 tough one run games on Wednesday. I was so frustrated I had to stop watching for a bit (like I had to during the series in New York) but still kept hope the Twins could recover. Bad luck and few spots where we needed clutch hits and hit into double plays lost us the first two games. Though it is fun to note the Twins
- Series Recap: Twins vs Brewers
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel May 23, 2010 at 06:41 PM
If the Twins did any less than take 2 of 3 from the Brewers after an east coast road trip where they struggled I think there may have been some issues to discuss. But, even though the Twins couldn't wrap up the sweep, they won another series and continued to prove they're tough to beat at home.I didn't quite get Gardy pinch running for Thome today in the 9th since his run didn't matter but that's
- Series Recap: Twins vs Blue Jays
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel May 18, 2010 at 11:05 PM
A series split is alright I guess but you hate to see a pitcher like Pavano, who's been on a great stretch of games, get knocked around like that. Twins vs Blue Jays (tied 1-1)Record: 24-15Gold Stars:Justin Morneau - He's been getting a lot of these. With 2 dingers Monday night it's hard not to give him one. Joe Mauer - He went 4-8. Mauer is Mauer. There's a reason he usually makes this list.Demer
- Series Recap: Twins vs Yankees
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel May 16, 2010 at 03:35 PM
The Yankee Mystique definitely haunted the Twins this weekend. Derek Jeter hits a ball up the middle that's deflected by the pitcher and it turns into a double, Denard Span does the same thing and it rolls right to 2nd base to get the Yankees out of the inning without giving up a run. That's just the way things seem to go. So with the bases loaded and the Twins having been 3-16 with RISP there cou
- A few smirks before a serious weekend of Twins baseball.
- via Twins Territory via the Colonel May 14, 2010 at 12:59 PM
After pitching his perfect game last Sunday Dallas Braden made the media rounds this week and even got to do the infamous "Top 10" on Letterman. Fast forward to about 3:00 in to skip past the banter and get right to the Top 10. None of it is "bust a gut" funny but there are a few smirks to be had. Incase that doesn't do it for you I also included Betty White's "Census" skit on SNL last weekend.
